Eagle Marsh

Eagle Marsh is a restored wetland and nature preserve built and managed by the Little River Wetlands Project just outside the city of Fort Wayne in southwest Allen County, Indiana.

Until the late 1800s, most of southwest Allen County was a huge swamp stretching from Fort Wayne down to the confluence of the Little River and the Wabash River near Huntington, Indiana. This huge wetland was drained to open up land for farming. In recent years, there have been efforts to restore some of this land to its original state.

Since the restoration of Eagle Marsh began in 2005, the 716 acre preserve has attracted bald eagles, deer, ducks, herons, frogs, hawks, and butterflies.
